    Gothic Candelabra
    Materials:

    candelabra
    large-pattern lace trim
    scissors
    small paint roller
    silver and black craft paint
    hot glue and glue gun
    jewel glue
    large rhinestones
    chain
    wire
    wire cutters
    round-nose pliers

    Steps:

    1. Cut a length of lace trim that will wrap all the way around the candelabra with a slight overlap. Tape the ends of the lace down on a piece of wax paper and use a small, foam roller to paint with metallic craft paint. For this project, Cathie mixed silver metallic paint with a small amount of black for a gunmetal look. Let the paint dry, then paint the other side of the lace.

    2. Once the paint is dry, use jewel glue to attach rhinestones to the lace. Let the glue dry completely before attaching the lace to the candelabra.

    3. Embellish the candelabra with thin chains. Thread short lengths of wire through the chain and wrap around the candelabra base to attach. If the candelabra has loops for hanging crystals, these also make good points to attach the chains (figure A).

Tip: Every candelabra is different. Experiment to find the best lengths and arrangement for the chains.

    4. Use hot glue to attach the lace to the candelabra. Work in small sections, applying hot glue to the back of the lace and pressing to the candelabra rim (figure B).

    5. Add other embellishments, such as dangling crystals, as desired.
