    Stamped and Studded Candle
    Materials:

    light-colored pillar candle
    white tissue paper
    scissors
    rubber stamp
    ink pad
    embossing powder
    embossing gun
    metallic watercolors
    paintbrush
    parchment paper
    small scrapbooking eyelets
    candle paint pen

Tip: Choose a chunky stamp design without lots of fine lines.

    Steps:

    1. Cut a piece of tissue paper slightly larger than the stamp. Ink the stamp and carefully stamp the design onto the glossy side of the tissue paper

Tip: If using a large stamp, lay the stamp ink-side up on a flat work surface, lay the tissue paper on top and gently rub the paper to transfer the image.

    2. Sprinkle embossing powder on the stamped image and tap off the excess. Heat the powder with an embossing gun until the image is embossed (figure A).

Tip: Lay the paper in an open manila folder when sprinkling the powder. Tap the excess into the folder and return it to the container.

    3. Paint over the embossed image with a metallic watercolor paint. Make sure the paintbrush isn't too wet, or the tissue paper will tear. Allow the piece to dry before going to the next step.

    4. Trim the excess tissue paper from around the edges of the image. Position the image on the candle; the embossing can face toward or away from the candle. Wrap the parchment around the tissue paper and the candle, using the excess parchment as a handle.

    5. Use an embossing gun to heat the image and melt the tissue paper into the candle. Look through the parchment paper to see when the wax melts; move the embossing gun when the wax melts to avoid over-melting the candle. When the entire image has melted into the candle, carefully remove the parchment paper.

    6. To add detail, press scrapbooking eyelets into the candle while it is still warm from the embossing gun. Use candle paint pens to add dots, lines or other accents (figure B). Let the candle paint dry for 24 hours.
